Waiting on God

"You can save a lot of time waiting on God." -Adrian Rodgers

It’s been said that “The best things come to those who wait.”  While that may sound good in theory, it can often be hard to put into practice.  It can be exhausting waiting on a dream to come true or for God to answer your prayers, because we are used to instantaneous results.  If you don’t believe me, go through any fast food drive through and wait for more than five minutes to receive your food.  A little frustrating, right?  It’s actually liberating recognizing that there are opportunities that we can’t force open, but rather we have to wait for them to open.  You and I cannot make someone fall in love with us, or force our bosses to give us raises and we cannot become overnight successes.  These things inevitably take time.  I am not suggesting that we don’t strive to be all that God has called us to be, rather we ought to remember that all of the striving in the world won’t cause a flower to bloom before its time.

The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him (Lamentations 3:25, ESV).
