Peace Within

"First keep peace with yourself, then you can bring peace to others." -Thomas A. Kempis

Falsely accused by the Jews and taken prisoner by the Romans, Paul decided to appeal his case to Caesar. This meant that he’d have to be transferred to Rome by ship.  While sailing, a storm came that greatly distressed the sailors and soldiers; and Paul being the only Christian on board, heard God’s voice to encourage them.  Paul said, “You’re going to come out of this without even a scratch!” (Acts 27:34, MSG)  Even in the midst Paul’s greatest storm, he felt peace because he clung to Christ.  He was also able to share this peace with his captors.  Like Paul, we are going to face our own storms from time to time, but if we cling to Christ, we’ll experience a peace that only He can bring.  I will contend that you will find an inexplicable strength to persevere in spite of the storm, and encourage those around you to do the same.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, ESV).
