“Let us diligently apply the means, never
doubting that a just God, in his own good time, will give us the rightful
result.” –Abraham Lincoln
One name for Jesus is Emmanuel, meaning ‘God with
us.’ When Jesus told his disciples
he would go to the Father, they wondered how Jesus could abandon them. They wanted Jesus with them. Jesus explained that it was better that
he left because another Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who was with them would soon
be in them. Jesus explained, “I
will come to you” (John 14:18) via the Holy Sprit. Thus Jesus went from being
‘God with us’ to ‘God in us.’ We
may have moments that we don’t feel as if God is with us, but remember that God
dwells in every believer. Jesus
doesn’t have to be with you when He is in you.
Christ
in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27, NLT).
