“I’m not a guy that’s going to brag…” –Kevin Durant

Paul wrote the church leaders of Corinth to defend his ministry.  He let them know that he didn’t have to brag about his moral authority (which was God-ordained), credentials (and they were many), or even his hardships (a very long list).  Rather Paul could only brag about his weakness that made him more dependent on Christ and only in Christ did his weakness make him strong.  Here’s the point: A problem with bragging is really an issue of pride.  Any blessing that does not turn into praise turns into pride.  We could brag about how humble we think we are and even that’s pride.  Every good thing comes from God so let’s brag on God for all that He’s done.

Whoever brags must brag about what the Lord has done (1 Corinthians 1:31, GWT).
