Wishing Life Away

“Wherever you are, be all there.”  -Jim Elliot

In high school I wished to be in college, and in college I wished to be graduated and working already, and now that I’m working I sometimes find myself wishing for the next step.  While it isn’t wrong to wish for a nice life, this futuristic mentality only makes life harder to live fully cognitive of the present.  Is it just me or do you wrestle with this, too?  For those of you that do I encourage you to enjoy whatever season of life you’re presently in.  You may not be where you want to be in your career yet or you’re single and you want marriage—but don’t wish your life away.  One day you may look back on this time you’re in NOW and realize this was the best time of your life and say, “I miss that.” Don’t wish to be anywhere but where you are right NOW.

…making the most of the time, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16, NLT).
