“Take me back to the place where I first received you.”
–Christian hymnal
In the Old Testament, the priest’s duty was to enter the
holy temple each day to place wood on the altar to keep a fire going. This way Israel could make an animal or
grain sacrifice to seek God anytime. You are the priest of your soul and your duty each day is to
put wood on the altar to keep a fire going. You can’t do this affectively without spending time in
prayer and the Word. Ask God
to rekindle the fire you had when you first met Him. If you provide wood then God will provide the fire.
The fire on the
altar must be kept burning; it must not go out (Romans 6:12,
NLT).
