Gratitude More Than Attitude

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”  -John F. Kennedy

This Thanksgiving let’s not limit gratitude to customary lip service for a single day, but a lifestyle for a lifetime. Circumstances may inhibit us from feeling grateful, but gratitude is less about how we feel and more about who God is.  Jesus paid it all on the cross so that we can have abundant grace and new mercies each and every day: our level of thanks is a form of worship in response to this.  Gratitude is more than just an attitude.  Gratitude isn’t about us trying to trick our minds into happiness; rather it’s a radical transformation of the heart.

We give praise and thanks to You, O God, we praise and give thanks; Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near and they who invoke Your Name rehearse Your wonders (Psalm 75:1, NIV).
