A Disavow to Idolatry

“An idol of the mind is as offensive to God as an idol of the hand.”  –A.W. Tozer

After reading about Old Testament idolatry this morning I said to myself: “Why would the Israelites put a wooden statue before the God who rescued them time after time?” I then realized that we should ask ourselves a harder question: “What idols am I putting before God?” I pray that we ask God to search our hearts and shine His light on anything—a relationship, career or maybe a hobby—that we are spending more time on and giving more attention to.

I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols (Isa 42:8, NIV).
