If you love God, prove it... (but isn't that legalism?)

"Come live with me and be my love, and we will some new pleasures prove, of golden sands, and crystal beaches, with silken lines and silver hooks…"  -John Dunne

Righteousness is a byproduct of our love for God like works is a byproduct of our faith in God.  However, we cannot properly fulfill love without righteousness just like we cannot fulfill faith without works; both are as interdependent as they are interconnected.  Love is a commitment to God that we must fulfill each and every day, because ultimately we love Him not by what we say but by what we do.  Day after day becomes the process of a lifetime in which we defy the gravitation to our default state of selfishness to pursue a life lived in the Holy Spirit of selflessness.

If you love me, keep my commands  (John 14:15, NIV).
