For what can war, but endless war, still breed? – John Milton

As a child I played a game at arcades known as Whac-A-Mole which had five holes where moles came out of; each gamer was given a sledgehammer to whac the mole.  After about 3 minutes the game became monotonous and endless, but I kept at it until I finished (and with a high score!).  Our war against sin can sometimes feel much the same: as soon as we conquer one mole, another mole shows it’s ugly head. Jesus will always be the only man to ever finish the game with a perfect score, but we too can conquer sin with God as our sledgehammer and finish with a high score.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
