To Finish First You Must First Finish

“To finish first, you must first FINISH.” –Rick Mears

As runners race and fighters combat, they may have strived up till the point of the last two minutes or 200 meters, but they can become weary. They would never quit, but some slow down while others let down their guard; and as the expression goes, in this short duration they ‘aren’t themselves.’ No matter the contest, any coach’s advice would be universal: FINISH strong and focus on the prize. Spiritually, we must stay true to Judeo-Christians principals and we mustn’t forget that we press for a “Heavenly prize” (Philippians 3:14). Thereafter we hope to say what Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have FINISHED the race, I have kept the faith.
